Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of paint do you use?
We primarily use Sherwin-Williams paint, but we can use another brand upon request.
Do I need to do any kind of prep work before you arrive to paint?
Before we arrive for a painting project, a customer should take the following steps:
- Determine any delicate areas of the home where extra attention is needed and communicate that with the lead painter or project manager.
- Remove any small appliances or decorations from the area. We can move most of the larger items.
- For exterior projects, it’s a good idea to have vehicles in the garage or in an area away from the house so the crew can freely work around the outside of the home.
By taking these steps, customers can help ensure a successful and satisfactory painting experience with our professional painters.
Do you charge for estimates?
No, all estimates are free.
What’s the difference between interior and exterior paints?
Interior paint is designed for use on the interior walls, ceilings, and other surfaces of a home or building. It is typically formulated to provide good coverage, durability, and resistance to wear and tear, as well as to hide imperfections and provide a smooth, attractive finish. Interior paint is also available in a wide range of colors and finishes, including matte, eggshell, satin, and gloss.
Exterior paint, on the other hand, is formulated to withstand harsh outdoor elements, including rain, snow, wind, and UV rays. It is designed to protect the surfaces it covers from moisture, fading, cracking, and peeling. Exterior paint is thicker and more durable than interior paint and may contain additives that resist mildew, algae, and other types of growth. Additionally, exterior paint is usually available in a smaller range of colors, as it must be able to resist fading and discoloration over time.
It’s important to note that using interior paint on exterior surfaces can result in poor performance and a shorter lifespan, while exterior paint used inside may emit harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds). This is why it’s important to choose the right type of paint for each application to ensure a lasting and satisfactory result.
Do colors or seasons impact paint price?
Colors can impact the price of a painting project, but the effect is usually minor. The main factors that affect the cost of a painting project are the size of the area to be painted, the type of paint and finish selected, the condition of the surfaces, and the amount of preparation work needed.
However, some factors related to color selection can influence the cost of a painting project. For example, darker colors may require more coats of paint to achieve the desired opacity, which can increase the cost of materials and labor. Additionally, if the customer wants to change the color of the trim, doors, or other architectural features, this may require more preparation work, such as sanding or priming, which can add to the cost of the project.
In general, the impact of color on the price of a painting project is relatively minor compared to other factors. Choose the color(s) that best suit your home and personal taste, rather than making a decision based solely on cost. During the estimation and quoting process, we provide an accurate estimate for the cost of your painting project based on the specific details of the job, including color selection.
What do I do with my pet(s) while you’re painting the inside of my house?
We ask that customers keep pets out of the work area as much as possible. We know our customers love their pets (we love ours, too), so keeping your pet isolated from the work area keeps them safe and clear of any wet paint.
